You could also start your own business. This is particularly true if you have decided to specialize in a special niche. You can set up some travel arrangements and accomodations for a special group of folks like archeologists to a city which has ancient ruins or a church or temple group on a pilgrimage to the holy land, if you want to. If you specialized on the tourism field, you could put up your own travel agency.
The good thing with this kind of career is that it is very lucrative. Your effort is very much rewarded equally with your salary. However, the amount you earn would definitely depends on your position, specialty and dedication. Sometimes there are companies that pay by the hour. There are companies too that pay annually.
Since there are different job positions in this kind of career, there are also different requirements. For instance, there are jobs that donít really require a diploma and accept high school graduates. This was my case in the beginning of my travel career as a reservations agent in a travel agency, but more often, positions accepting applicants without a college degree would include housekeeping services of hotels. There are positions however that require educational backgrounds like chefs in which you should have finished a degree in culinary arts.
In general, you can take Hotel and Restaurant Management courses if you want to. This would be a very good advantage on your part. Tourism courses are also viable. This is recommended if you want to specialize on a tourism oriented Travel and Tourism job.
